Taxonomy
Parahippus coloradensis praecurrens was named by Osborn (1918). Its type specimen is AMNH 13018, a partial skeleton (Upper grinding teeth, pLm3, and hind foot), and it is a 3D body fossil.

H. F. Osborn 1918(Matthew 1913, Osborn 1918) (1) Size of Parahippus texanus, one-eighth smaller than P. nebrascensis. (2) Crochet absent on p2, strong on pLm3; (3) PI and probably pi relatively large, compressed, p1 with distinct heel; (4) metastylids imperfectly separated from metaconids. (5) Limbs and feet relatively slender, with (6) lateral metapodials greatly reduced.
