Paso Córdoba (Miocene of Argentina)

Also known as Chichinales

Where: Río Negro, Argentina (39.1° S, 67.8° W: paleocoordinates 39.8° S, 62.2° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Chichinales Formation, Colhuehuapian (21.0 - 17.5 Ma)

• Kramarz and Paz 2013: lower section of the Chichinales Formation in Paso Córdova (Barrio et al., 1989: fig. 2; Kramarz et al., 2004). All these deposits have been assigned to the Colhuehuapense Mammal Age (early Miocene) (Vucetich et al., 2010), although recently Kramarz et al. (2011) suggested that the mammal-bearing deposits of the Cerro Bandera Formation outcropping in the Barda Negra de Neuquén could be somewhat older than those of Bryn Gwyn and Paso Córdova

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; volcaniclastic sediments and calcareous conglomerate

• calcirrudite level

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Reposited in the MLP

• Agnolin and Chafrat 2015: MPCN-PV-38, MPCN-PV-377, MPCN-PV-379, MPCN-PV-380, MPCN-PV-376, MPCN-PV-378 housed in Paleontology of Vertebrate Collection, Museo Patagónico de Ciencias Naturales, General Roca, Argentina.
