Taxonomy
Neotragocerus improvisus was named by Matthew and Cook (1909) [genotype]. Its type specimen is AMNH 14141, a partial skull (complete horn-core), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is ZXBar, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Snake Creek Formation of Nebraska. It is the type species of Neotragocerus.
