Michenia deschutensis

Taxonomy
Michenia deschutensis was named by Dingus (1990). Its type specimen is LACM (CIT) 2685, a partial skeleton (dentary fragments with RP4-M2 and LM2-M3, R metacarpal III, L metacarpal IV , L metatarsal III-IV , and proximal phalanx), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Warm Springs, which is in an Arikareean terrestrial sandstone/tuff in the John Day Formation of Oregon.

L. Dingus 1990Michenia deschutensis n. sp. possesses a longer C J - P J diastema, broader P4 with a more distinct mesoconid-entoconid separation, stouter and shorter metacarpal III-IV and metatarsal III-IV, and a shorter more stout proximal phalanx than Michenia agalensis. M. deschutensis n. sp. shows stronger fusion of roots on P ] , larger P4, larger and longer metacarpal III-IV and metatarsal III-IV , stronger fusion of metatarsal III-IV, and a longer more slender proximal phalanx than Michenia exilis.
