It was recombined as Palaeoniscus elegans by Agassiz (1833), Agassiz (1834), Agassiz (1835), Agassiz (1836), Howse (1848), King (1850) and M'Coy (1855); it was recombined as Palaeoniscum elegans by Mickle (2017).
