Ailuropoda fovealis

Osteichthyes - Carnivora - Ursidae

Taxonomy
Aeluropus fovealis was named by Matthew and Granger (1923). Its type specimen is AMNH 18385, a mandible (right lower jaw with p4-m3+left m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yen-ching-kao, which is in a Pleistocene/Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in China.

It was recombined as Ailuropoda fovealis by Davis (1964); it was recombined as Ailuropoda melanoleuca fovealis by Colbert and Hooijer (1953), Chorn and Hoffman (1978).
