Eucycloidea was named by Hudleston (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo-l J Call Sepkoski's reference number: 661]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Purpurina (Eucycloidea) by Pan (1977).

It was assigned to Purpurina by Pan (1977); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eucyclidae by Bandel (2010).
