Taxonomy
Macrocallista acuminata was named by Dall (1903) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; Florida.]. Its type specimen is USNM 114631, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Macrocallista (Paradione) acuminata by Dall (1915); it was recombined as Macrocallista (Macrocallista) acuminata by Hendy et al. (2008).
