Taxonomy
Anas acuta was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant. It is the type species of Dafila.

It was recombined as Dafila acuta by Shufeldt (1891), Hay (1902), Hay (1930), Wetmore (1940) and Miller and DeMay (1942).
