Euphemitopsis was named by Yochelson (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: P Asse P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 109,797].

It was assigned to Euphemitidae by HornĂ½ (1963); to Bellerophontida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Euphemitinae by Kulas and Batten (1997) and Wagner (2023).
