Taxonomy
Pterotheca trimerelloides was named by Clarkson et al. (1995). It is not extant. Its type locality is North Esk River, Pentland Hills, SW Edinburgh, which is in a Telychian marine mudstone/siltstone in the Wether Law Linn Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pterotheca gath by Ebbestad and GutiƩrrez-Marco (2017).
