Taxonomy
Parietobalaena palmeri was named by Kellogg (1924). Its type specimen is USNM 10668, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dares Wharf, north of, Zone 11, which is in a Langhian estuary/bay claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
