Sudamericidae was named by Scillato-Yané and Pascual (1984). It is not extant.
It was assigned to Tardigrada by Scillato-Yané and Pascual (1985); to Gondwanatherioidea by Krause and Bonaparte (1993); and to Gondwanatheria by Krause et al. (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004), Gelfo et al. (2007), Wilson et al. (2007), Prasad et al. (2007) and Krause et al. (2014).
