Taxonomy
Thamnasteria abukumaensis was named by Mori (1963). Its type locality is Koyamada, Soma area, which is in an Oxfordian/Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal grainstone/lime mudstone in the Nakanosawa Formation of Japan.
