Megalagus primitivus
Taxonomy
Hypolagus primitivus was named by Schlaikjer (1935). Its type specimen is MCZ 2887, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is YBO Ranch, which is in an Arikareean/Arikareean terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
It was recombined as Palaeolagus primitivus by Wood (1937) and Wood (1940); it was recombined as Megalagus primitivus by Dawson (1958), Macdonald (1963) and Macdonald (1970).
