Taxonomy
Forcipomyia rasnitsyni was named by Szadziewski et al. (2021). Its type specimen is MAI 6697, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Ethiopian amber (MAIG collection), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Ethiopia.
It was recombined as Forcipomyia (Forcipomyia) rasnitsyni by Borkent et al. (2022).
