Taxonomy
Neobythites turpidus was named by Schwarzhans (2019). Its type specimen is CD952, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cape Foulwind beach cliffs, which is in a Runangan marine horizon in New Zealand.
