Palaeocaris typus
Taxonomy
Palaeocaris typus was named by Meek and Worthen (1865). Its type specimen is University of Illinois X 338 and is an impression. Its type locality is Mazon Creek (University of Illinois collection), which is in a Westphalian D deltaic mudstone in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois. It is the type species of Palaeocaris.
