Taxonomy
Pyktes daiphron was named by Popenoe (1983). Its type specimen is UCLA 59047, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CIT loc. 1164, Santiago Canyon, Santa Ana Mountains, which is in a Turonian marine horizon in the Ladd Formation of California.
