Taxonomy
Aureobythus punctatus was named by Melo and Lucena (2019). Its type specimen is DZUP Bur-243, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Burmese amber (UFPR coll), which is in a Cenomanian terrestrial amber in Myanmar.
