Desmoceras cuvervillei was named by Meunier (1888). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is North cliff, Lobito Bay, which is in an Albian carbonate limestone in Angola.
It was recombined as Puzosia cuvervillei by Spath (1922) and Haas (1942).
