Mesopotamocnus brevirostrum
Taxonomy
Ortotherium brevirostrum was named by Bordas (1941) [MACN Pv 13656, type of Ortotherium brevirostrum Bordas, 1942]. Its type specimen is MACN Pv 13656, a mandible (incomplete right dentary that preserves the m1 and m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Parana, Pueblo Brugo to Diamante, Ituzaingo Fm., which is in a Huayquerian marine sandstone/mudstone in the Ituzaingo Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Mesopotamocnus.
It was recombined as Mesopotamocnus brevirostrum by Brandoni (2014).
