Taxonomy
Struthiochenopus bandeli was named by Nielsen (2005). Its type specimen is SGO.PI.6074, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Punta El Fraile, which is in a Burdigalian coastal sandstone in the Ranquil Formation of Chile.
