Taxonomy
Salenia novemprovincialis was named by Nisiyama (1966). Its type specimen is IGPS 73750 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Otokojima, which is in an Oligocene marine horizon in the Kakinoura Formation of Japan.
