Hemicardium dolomiticum was named by Loretz (1875). It is not extant. Its type locality is Croda da Lago, which is in a Norian carbonate limestone in the Dachstein Formation of Italy.
It was recombined as Dicerocardium dolomiticum by Frech (1912).
