Ariadnaria ainikta was named by Saul and Squires (2008). Its type specimen is CASG 61794.00 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 1346A, Hulen Creek, upper beds, which is in an Albian/Cenomanian marine sandstone in California.
