Anthocoridea was named by Fieber (1837). It is extant.

It was corrected as Anthocoridae by Statz and Wagner (1950), Popov et al. (2011) and Szwedo (2018).

It was assigned to Cimicomorpha by Popov et al. (2011); and to Cimicoidea by Statz and Wagner (1950) and Szwedo (2018).
