Taxonomy
Conicodontosaurus was named by Gilmore (1943). Its type is Conicodontosaurus djadochtaensis.
It was assigned to Agamidae by Gilmore (1943); to Lacertilia by Estes (1983); to Lacertilia by Carroll (1988); to Mongolochamopini by Alifanov (1993); to Teiidae by Alifanov (1993) and Gao and Hou (1996); and to Mongolochamopidae by Alifanov (2000).
