Sorbitorhynchus deleaskitus was named by Wang et al. (1990) [(Amendcd from Wang et al. 1990) Skull largc and hcavily ossified; palate massivc and with thick ptcrygoid dental plates separatcd by a median suture; tuberosities restrictcd to the antcrior and anterolateral platc margins; most of thc platc surhce smooth and covered with hypermincralized dentinc, but undulose margins with intergrown dcntinc and bone, parasphenoid short antcriorly, with a ploughshare shapc and short stem as in Chirodzpterur aurtrali~; surf'ace of parasphcnoid without dentine; no buccohypophysial opening; jaw articulation of the restrictcd type, consisting of a narrow, dccply grooved cartilage-covcrcd surfacc on the quadrate and thc adjacent pterygoid. Mandible massivcly ossified; dcntal plates likc thosc of thc palatc but separatcd by a decp lingual groovc; antcrior part of lingual groovc with a dcpression covered by irregular patches of dentine and intergrown bone and dentine with resorption patches; external surface with only three dermal bones; surangular high and with a large vertical blade against the prearticular process; glenoid fossa C-shaped in lateral profile, and grooved to fit the quadrate articulation fairly closely; articular strong and extended [orwards to form a large and high preglenoid process; suprameckelian fbssa very small; surface of external dermal bones with cosmine.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is IVPP V2034, a skeleton (A single individual consisting of a broken skull and an uncrushed mandible, still articulated, but both lacking the rostra1 region). Its type locality is Sorbitorhynchus-type locality, which is in an Emsian marine limestone/marl in the Dale Formation of China.
