Parafusulina wordensis

Schwagerinidae

Discussion

Dunbar and Skinner (1931: p. 261 (plate description), 263) did not originally designate a holotype for Parafusulina wordensis, but considered the specimens figured in Plate 2 (figs. 1-4) to be part of a syntype (cotype) suite with catalogue number YPM 9922. The figured syntypes are currently catalogued under the following Yale Peabody Museum Invertebrate Paleontology catalogue numbers: YPM IP 21145 (Dunbar and Skinner 1931: Pl. 2, fig. 1), YPM IP 50046 (Dunbar and Skinner 1931: Pl. 2, fig. 3), and YPM IP 50047 (Dunbar and Skinner 1931: Pl. 2, fig. 4) (White and Skorina 2003: p. 62). Thompson (1948: p. 54) designated YPM 20886 as the holotype (lectotype) of Parafusulina wordensis; however, this specimen was not originally part of Dunbar & Skinners (1931) figured specimens in the original publication, but was subsequently figured by Dunbar and Skinner (1937: Pl. 72, fig. 5) in their publication on the Permian Fusulinidae of Texas.
