Caiman australis
Taxonomy
Crocodilus australis was named by Bravard (1858). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Barrancas del Rio Parana, which is in a Tortonian marginal marine siltstone/sandstone in the Entre Rios Formation of Argentina.
It was recombined as Proalligator australis by Ambrosetti (1890) and Langston (1965); it was recombined as Caiman australis by Bona and Barrios (2015).
