Taxonomy
Yakunopora mabutii was named by Niko (2015). Its type specimen is NMNS PA18337 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cape Iwaizaki (Unit 6), which is in a Wordian reef, buildup or bioherm packstone in the Iwaizaki Formation of Japan.
