Taxonomy
Trachyscaphites densicostatus was named by Cobban and Kennedy (1992). Its type specimen is USNM 441426, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Trachyscaphites spiniger ammonite fauna, which is in a Campanian marine marl in the Ozan Formation of Texas.
