Taxonomy
Elachorbis hawera was named by Laws (1940). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Waihi Beach, which is in a Waipipian coastal mudstone in the Tangahoe Formation of New Zealand.

It was recombined as Pterolabrella hawera by Beu et al. (1990).
