Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
J. A. McCartney and E. R. Seiffert 2016Differs from almost all caenophidians except Acrochordus, Synophis, and an unnamed snake from the Eocene of Kutch, India, by the presence of a parazygosphenal foramen. Differs from Acrochordus in having a shallower vertebral constriction, anteroposteriorly longer neural spine that is not inclined, larger lateral foramen, and prezygapophyseal accessory processes that are conical rather than compressed. Differentiated from Synophis by the absence of an interzygapophyseal shelf, neural spine lacking dorsal expansion and anterior projections, and more strongly developed prezygapophyseal accessory process. Differs from both Acrochordus and Synophis in a lack of hypapophyses in the mid- and posterior trunk vertebrae. Differs from the unnamed Eocene colubroid from India in having a deeper vertebral constriction, thinner zygosphene, and less vaulted neural arch.
