Taxonomy
Idiohamites pulchellus was named by Kennedy and Cobban (1990). Its type specimen is USNM 423790, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Mesozoic 22871, Alzada, which is in a Cenomanian marine shale in the Belle Fourche Shale Formation of Montana.
