Taotieichnus orientalis
Taxonomy
Taotieichnus orientalis was named by Xing et al. (2013). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is ZLJ 0035 and is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Dalishu bonebed, Konglongshan, which is in a Hettangian lacustrine - small mudstone in the Lufeng Formation of China. It is the type species of Taotieichnus.

L. Xing et al. 2013 | Epichnia, convex burrows (Fig. 7A) with dilated parts considered to be chambers (Fig. 7B). Traces columnar, branching, convex, with Y-shaped branches (Fig. 7C). Traces wind around the surfaces of the bones. At junctions other than Y-shaped branches, traces overlap rather than intersect directly (Fig. 7D). Surface texture rough. Traces hollow with thin mud constructed walls and cement infilled. |
