Taxonomy
Waharoa ruwhenua was named by Boessenecker and Fordyce (2015). Its type specimen is OU 22044, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is The Earthquakes, which is in a Duntroonian carbonate limestone in the Otekaike Limestone Formation of New Zealand.
