Taxonomy
Ammonites babeanus was named by d'Orbigny (1848). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R04144 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Aspidoceras babeanum by Waagen (1875); it was recombined as Aspidoceras babeaui by Douvillé (1916); it was recombined as Euaspidoceras babeaui by Jeannet (1951).
