Taxonomy
Acanthoptychoceras spinatocostatum was named by Manolov (1962). Its type specimen is SGM Cr1-8, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Darvena Koshara, west of Jablanitza, which is in a Barremian marine marl in Bulgaria. It is the type species of Acanthoptychoceras.
