Taxonomy
Pecten coosensis was named by Shumard (1858). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pecten (Patinopecten) coosensis by Arnold (1906); it was recombined as Patinopecten coosensis by Woodring and Bramlette (1950); it was recombined as Lituyapecten coosensis by Moore (1984).
