Uralorhynchia was named by Dagys (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-u K Berr Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Terebratula striatissima. It is the type genus of Uralorhynchiinae.
It was assigned to Uralorhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
