Bocchus vetustus was named by Olmi (1991). Its type specimen is CAS 16718, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (CAS, Craig collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
