Taxonomy
Bellerophon (Sorobanobaca) matsumotoi was named by Nishida (1969). Its type specimen is GS. D54, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ohirayama Mine, Tosa Limestone Co., which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in the Takaoka Formation of Japan. It is the type species of Bellerophon (Sorobanobaca).
