Deraeocoris was named by Kirschbaum (1856). It is extant. It is the type genus of Deraeocorinae, Deraeocorini.

It was assigned to Deraeocorini by Carvalho (1957), Herczek and Gorczyca (1991) and Kim et al. (2023).
