Sigmomorphina was named by Cushman and Ozawa (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Polymorphinidae by Bertels (1964) and Wienrich (1997); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).
