Taxonomy
Eucholoeops ingens was named by Ameghino (1887) [The holotype is lost.]. Its type specimen is Neotype: MPM-PV 3401, a partial skeleton (Nearly complete, including isolated premaxillae, L zygomatic, and R C1; teeth present and well preserved & Nearly complete mandible, preserving all teeth & Near), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Puesto Estancia La Costa Fossiliferous Level 7.2, which is in a Santacrucian terrestrial claystone/sandstone in the Santa Cruz Formation of Argentina.
