Taxonomy
Orbicella roemeriana was named by Wells (1933). It is not extant. Its type locality is Kerr County, which is in an Albian carbonate limestone in the Edwards Limestone Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Montastrea roemeriana by Cairns (1991).
