Taxonomy
Fouquea cambrensis was named by Allen (1901). It is an impression. Its type locality is Llanbradach Colliery, Cardiff, which is in a Westphalian B terrestrial shale in the Lower Coal Measures Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Pseudofouquea cambrensis by Handlirsch (1906), Bolton (1916), Handlirsch (1919), Bolton (1921), Handlirsch (1922), Kukalová (1958) and Prokop et al. (2014).
