Taxonomy
Kionotrochus lecomptei was named by Wells (1937). It is not extant. Its type locality is Edegem, which is in a Burdigalian/Serravallian coastal sandstone in Belgium.

It was recombined as Peponocyathus lecomptei by Cairns (1997).
